For Immediate Release

Cult favorite NeoTokyo Girl Crush! 2040 closed its five-month run at the UCB Theatre in October 2004. The show is currently working out a DVD production deal with several companies.

NeoTokyo Girl Crush! 2040 uses the bizarre language of anime in a multimedia comedy show in which live actors portray Japanese cartoon archetypes in an all original story. Special effects are carried out by dark-suited kuroko (a convention borrowed from kabuki) that-- along with puppetry, video, projection, sound effects and lighting-- to recreate the unique look of anime for the live stage.

The story follows the familiar Anime story arc of seemingly average boy -- an American teaching English abroad -- discovering he is the one person who can stop a supernatural threat and the troubles that befall him. Against the background of a questionable cram school, his affections are battled over by one of the superpowered schoolgirls in his class and the perverted she-demon who desires his power.

NeoTokyo Girl Crush! 2040 is an all-new edition of the 2002 show of the same name, performed at the famous Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City for four months and developed a cultish following. The new Girl Crush! 2040 is even bigger and better. Both versions were created by improv veteran Dyna Moe and directed by Brian Huskey.

NeoTokyo Girl Crush! 2040 features an all-star cast of comedians whose combined credits include the Respecto Montalban, Naked Babies, hundreds of improv shows, The Upright Citizens Brigade TV Show, a myriad of VH1 clip shows (Best Week Ever, A 2 Z), Late Night with Conan O'Brien and loads of other cool things
